6 Tips to Stay Fit in Quarantine!
Unless anyone is living under a rock, they’d be knowing what’s happening around the world since the dawn of 2020. Yes! you guessed it right, CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). Everyone is getting affected by it, directly or indirectly and for our own safety, we have to abide by the instructions and advice given by our respective government.
In these days of isolation and quarantine, getting fat, losing fitness, and succumbing to laziness becomes even more easy. Here are some tips that has helped many people globally & also team PSST to remain productive and maintain good fitness while we quarantine inside our homes: –
1. Have a fixed schedule
Just like at office, where every break or session or meeting has a fixed time and duration, prepare a schedule for the daily tasks at home. We know how easy it is to slack off from schedule when a family member can come anytime and assign you some ‘house work’ which should be done asap. You might be prompted to say no to it at first but this case is not much different from the one when a colleague comes to you to assign some task. So in a way, you’d be learning next level convincing, communication and management skills while getting through it at home. Funny it may sound, but it is absolutely true.
2. Don’t hold yourself from doing house chores
As mentioned in point 1, if you are visible in the radar, you will get shot or I should say if you are working from home, you will be given some chores. Chores are great way to indulge in work that is not related with our professional life. You can easily do few chores while you take breaks. It will freshen up the brain, gives a sense of accomplishment, help getting back to work with a good mood & of course, will make your family members happy.
3. Doing home cardio session
To maintain good fitness levels, we need to exercise and what better way to sweat the laziness out of us than doing cardiovascular exercise. You can use basic equipment such as rope, pull up bar, bench to do pull ups, crunches, push ups, leg raise etc. Raise your heart rate once or twice in a day for better concentration, stress reduction, better sleep, increased lung capacity and many other reasons. You can check out how some sports athlete are exercising such as Rani Rampal, Roger Federer while staying at home. You can choose an exercise partner from your family and make a journal to track progress.
4. Set Goals
Tracking daily progress would help reaching set milestones/goal. Goals should not be something that you can do right away, but something that is achievable and is within your reach.
5. Curb the Junk
We know how easy it is to binge on snacks while staying at home. It is one habit that can sneak into our diet routine and effect our health big time without our realisation. The best way to cut this habit is to get rid of all the processed, packed, junk food available in house and replace it with fibrous, nutrition rich natural food such as vegetables and fruits.
6. Get Creative
Thinking creatively is one of the best skills to have which is definitely not just for the ‘creative types’. The easiest way to be creative is to take up that project we always wanted to work on but never got the time for it. It might be writing a book, making a prototype, coding, learning new language, new instrument, starting a side income, reading new book literally anything. Indulging ourselves in a new task will help our brain form new connections, finding creative solutions and being less obtuse.
